01/09/09 - Hart Graffiti Clean Up
NINETY three separate areas of graffiti were removed across Hart district during last week’s Safer Hart Graffiti Busting Week. The graffiti removal was carried out by members of Hart’s Community Safety Team and by Graffiti Removal South.
Richard Denham, Safer Hart Partnership officer and organiser of the event commented: “Persistent graffiti can lead to an area appearing run down –this can result in an increase in crime and the fear of crime. Graffiti that is not removed can undermine faith in local services and reduce the sense of community.”
Cllr Nippy Singh, Hart’s Cabinet Member for People and Partnerships, said: “I am grateful to everyone who reported graffiti –not only are they taking pride in their area but they are helping to ensure that Hart maintains its low graffiti rate".
“We had lots of positive feedback. Which is always nice as it shows that the work we do is appreciated.”
