17/08/09 - Soccer at Six a success!
Safer Hart was celebrating the early success of a new 2009 project called 'Soccer at Six'. The scheme is being run in partnership with Aldershot Town FC and provides the young people of Hart with an opportunity to benefit from professional football coaching. The course is running for the summer (06.07.09 - 28.08.09) and welcomes young people aged 5 - 16 at a number of venues across the district;
Monday - Hartletts Park, Hook
Tuesday - The Green, Hawley
Wednesday - Basingbourne Park, Fleet
Thursday - Darby Green, Frogmore
Friday - Crownfields, Odiham
The age group ranges from 5 to 16 and sessions run from 6 -7.15pm at a cost of £2.50.
The scheme encourages physical activity, teamwork, football skills and the chance to spend time with positive role models.
Soccer at 6 is supported by Hart District Council and Sentinel Housing Association and run by Aldershot Town FC and the Safer Hart Partnership. In recognition of the success of the scheme, which has attracted average attendance of 22 young people per day, Vice Chairman Colin Ive met organisers Richard Denham and Kirk Wheeler in Hartletts Park, Hook to offer his congratulations.
Cllr Colin Ive says; "It is fantastic to see the young people of Hart participating in such a positive scheme".
