Vulnerable Vehicle and Property Reporting
The Vulnerable Vehicle and Property scheme this week is aimed at reducing opportunistic vehicle and property crime throughout the Hart District. It is hoped the scheme will also encourage the public to be more aware of vehicle security and home safety.
The scheme works by participating partners being given a pad, which is filled in when they spot a vulnerable vehicle or property. A vulnerable vehicle could include a satellite navigation system being left on display, or a window being left open. A vulnerable property could also include a window being left open, but also covers other issues such as fire and home safety.
Once a form is filled in, it is returned to the department or agency best equipped to deal with the issue, who will then send a crime prevention or home safety letter to the vehicle or property owner.
In cases of home security and fire safety, Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service may also arrange a home visit to discuss the problem, and offer advice.
Participating partners so far include Hart Community Wardens, Hart Civil Enforcement Officers, Hart Environmental Health, Hart Housing & Benefits, Sentinel Housing Association, Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service.
