Coldingley Prison
Coldingley Prison run a weekly youth event for people who are involved in crime or are considered ‘at risk’ of offending.
Prisoners show the young people what they can expect to happen if they carry on committing crime and received a custodial sentence.
During the session they use a number of different activities such as; drama and role play, interaction, testimonies, prison life and group work.
The Community Safety Team are able to refer young people on to this initiative whom they feel would benefit. A member of the team would then accompany the young person to the prison.
The visits help to discourage young people from re-offending and feedback from young people has been positive.
